Master P Has Thoughts About the BET Awards Prodigy Tribute...

He aired his opinion straight from outside of the annual awards show.

Just four days before the annual festivities of the 2017 BET Awards, hip-hop suffered the devastating loss of one-half of Mobb Deep, Prodigy.

Though BET paid its respects to the fallen rap legend by way of a special tribute, New Orleans rap magnate Master P is adamantly disappointed at the fallen rapper's postmortem commemoration.

Taking to Instagram live from outside of the BET Awards, P shared his disappointment in a video complete with a lengthy caption. The No Limit Records founder said that Prodigy may have been the furthest thing from the network’s mind — up until his passing.

“I ain’t even going in,” he said. “This s**t ain’t cool. All of a sudden they celebrating Prodigy. Prodigy, last week, couldn’t even get in here! Couldn’t get backstage, couldn’t have a pass. All of a sudden you die, you’re this big superstar.  Why not give a man his flowers while he’s here.”

He continued explaining that even himself, as an honorary hip-hop mogul, and his forthcoming film won’t receive proper recognition unless he died. It’s possible even, P added in his tirade, that the network doesn’t know who Mobb Deep is, and he believes the same shade was thrown over the deaths of Whitney Houston and Prince.

Reiterating his distaste in the caption, he said that the only reason he showed up for the award show was to support his 20-year-old daughter, Cymphonique Miller, who performed during BET Experience.

“We lost a very talented brother, Prodigy,” he wrote. “I send my condolences to his family. Hopefully, one day we can start appreciating the talented sisters and brothers while they are still alive. I know that what I am saying may ruffle a few feathers, but the truth needed to be heard.”

Listen to the bone he had to pick with the BET Awards tribute for the late Mobb Deep member in the video below.
