[Breaking] Donald Trump Crushes Marco Rubio in Florida Primary
Donald Trump just took one giant leap forward in his journey toward the White House. The controversial and divisive Republican candidate has won the Florida primary, grabbing the second-biggest prize in the delegate race and embarassing Marco Rubio in the process.
The Florida senator has withdrawn from the presidential race after an embarassing double-digit loss to Trump in his home state. Rubio announced the decision to suspend his campaign in a speech at his headquarters in Miami shortly after networks called the state for Trump.
"While we are on the right side, this year, we are not on the winning side," Rubio told supporters, adding that the easiest road to victory would have been playing to voters fears and anger, "But, that is not what's best for America."
Despite Trump's resounding victory in Florida, he is far from the home stretch when it comes to the Republican nomination. Ohio governer John Kasich won his home state, and Ted Cruz is head-to-head with Trump in North Carolina and Missouri. The split makes clear that the fight for the nomination is as heated as ever, though now it's a three man race to the convention.
