Report: Kanye West Makes Incredibly Generous Gesture Toward Family Of Slain Security Guard Jemel Roberson
Kanye West may be taking a break from politics, but it appears as though the rapper still has a soft spot for social injustice.
The Ye emcee reportedly gifted a six-figure donation in the name of Jemel Roberson, a security who was shot and killed in the rapper's hometown of Chicago.
Ten donations of $15,000 ( totalling to $150,000) made in Kanye West's name were listed on the Go Fund Me account created by the family of the slain security guard. West was compelled to give after learning of Roberson's tragic death.
The 26-year-old picked up extra shifts at a Manny's Blue Room Bar to purchase toys for his 9-month-old son's first Christmas when a drunk patron fired a weapon on November 11. He reportedly fired back, apprehended the alleged gunman and held him at gunpoint while they waited for the police. Roberson was tragically shot and killed by a police officer once they arrived on the scene.
Despite multiple donations being made in his name, Kanye West has yet to confirm or deny whether he was responsible for the donations.
The investigation into Jemel Roberson's tragic death is still ongoing.
