Tyrese Gibson: "Transforms" to Renaissance Man

The singer, actor and new author talks new movie and the acting game

Tyrese Gibson has come a very long way from singing on a city bus in those old Coca Cola TV commercials. The 32-year old Los Angeles native now has over thirteen films to his credit, including the just released 4th of July weekend hit: Transformers: Dark of the Moon. And Gibson says fans should believe all the hype because the new blockbuster is completely worth all the buzz.

Transformers is gonna shake the world up. I can’t compare it to anything I’ve ever seen. It’s just crazy, for real. It’s really special how they do the special effects. It’s really high tech,” Gibson told BET.com.

And keep a close eye on all his character Epps’s daredevil action moves in the movie, because a lot of what you’re watching is Gibson himself and not a stunt double. “I do most of my own stunts, I’m putting the stunt man out of business,” he says. “There’s one scene where they’ve got us sliding down the side of a 40-story building and it got real crazy [when we were shooting] that day.”

The multi-talented star’s successful music career will continue when he releases his fourth album later this year, but the singer turned New York Times bestselling author of How To Get Out of Your Own Way admits at the moment he’s fully enjoying the race on acting track.

“Music is my first love, I never saw myself acting. Not even remotely,” says Gibson. “But now that I am I’m just trying to hold onto it as long as I can before they find themselves a new sexy black.”
