Wale and Jerry Seinfeld Cover Complex Magazine

Comedian and rapper have a conversation about nothing.

Wale and Jerry Seinfeld’s budding friendship isn’t just for show, these two get along pretty well. The unlikely comrades cover the Dec. 2014/Jan. 2015 issue of Complex magazine in support of Wale’s upcoming The Album About Nothing LP, which is inspired by Seinfeld’s classic sitcom.

The interview is a conversation about nothing — in particular. Sneakers, rapping vs. comedy, Twitter trolls, Buddha, chicken wings at strip clubs, and wrestling are among the topics of choice.

They also talk Wale’s epic blow up on Complex last year for not including him in their year-end list of best albums. While Seinfeld found the whole thing hilarious, Wale has gained perspective from letting his temper run free. “I learned from it,” he says. “Although I wasn’t happy with certain things in my career, I checked some things in myself. It’s rough to try to act like this doesn’t affect me, so when things happen, why not let people know it’s affecting me and move on with my life? I’m more open with how I feel, like, ‘I don’t like this, but it’s not the end of the world, let’s keep moving.’ I don’t think it’ll happen again."

In between the jokes and lighthearted banter, Seinfeld drops some knowledge about how Wale can deal with being a celebrity. “This is why the universe put us together,” decides the comedian. “I am here to relieve you of this burden. It’s just a choice. There’s a fame need. We need people to look at or talk about to just fill the time. They say life is too short. It’s way too long! And we’re filling it in with a lot of fake stuff. Like wrestling. Like stars who have no talent!”

Wale’s The Album About Nothing has no announced drop date, but yes, Seinfeld will be featured on the release.
