Derek Fisher Reportedly Got Hit With Two Counts of DUI From Last Month's Crash
If things weren’t already bad enough for Derek Fisher, they’re actually getting worse. The former NBA player and coach has reportedly been charged with two counts of Driving Under the Influence for his June 4 crash.
The incident left his Cadillac Escalade flipped over on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles. If convicted on both DUI charges, Fisher could face a maximum of six months in prison.
Fisher, accompanied by his girlfriend Gloria Govan, reportedly lost control of his vehicle at around 3 a.m. and crashed into a guardrail before flipping, reports TMZ. "We are beyond grateful that we are both OK and no one else was involved," Fisher and Govan said in a joint statement via the Washington Post.
Previously, law enforcement was only seeking one charge of DUI. No one was hurt in the crash before Fisher was arrested.
Another notable aspect of the incident was that the Escalade was registered to NBA free agent Matt Barnes, Govan’s ex-husband and someone Fisher’s been at odds with in the past.
