Two Members Of The Weeknd’s Staff Have Reportedly Been Accused Of Rape
The Weeknd’s team is facing some very serious allegations. Two temp crew members for the mega-star have reportedly been accused of rape, according TMZ. Police officials are reportedly looking into the series of events that took place at the singer’s Columbus, Ohio, show on Sept. 19.
According to police sources, an unidentified woman filed a report on Sept. 20, with Ohio State University officers, alleging she was raped by two men shortly after The Weeknd’s show at the Jerome Schottenstein Center. The woman claims she was “in a backstage area” when the alleged rape happened. Police say that all involved parties were allegedly intoxicated and that the assailants used hands, feet, and teeth as “weapons” during the alleged assault, TMZ reports. It is reportedly believed that the incident was recorded.
Although it doesn’t seem as though anyone has been charged, the XO team and Live Nation have confirmed that the two men have been terminated. “Upon learning of the accusations that two members of our tour staff are facing, we immediately terminated their employment,” the companies said in a statement. “We are working with the authorities to ensure they have access to any information or assistance they may need.”
It’s not unusual for touring productions to employ temporary staff members. These employees are reportedly staffed as needed and based on the venue. Although the two men were hired to work on The Weeknd’s Columbus tour stop, they are not reportedly connected with XO’s usual team.
Despite the negative attention, The Weeknd’s Starboy: Legend of the Fall Tour will continue its voyage through North America until Nov. 2017.
