'House of Payne' Recap: CJ Delivers A Lesson on Love and Pride
Tyler Perry’s House of Payne is back for its 10th season. The multigenerational Paynes have new comedic adventures in store, and tonight’s episode starts with Calvin (Lance Gross) and Laura gifting Ella (Cassi Davis) with a Chauncy. A Chauncy is like a Google Home; you already know it will be the basis of some shenanigans. At first, Ella is suspicious of it, but then she grows to love it and they introduce it to Curtis (LaVan Davis) too. He starts to like it at first, but he starts to notice that it has a mind of its own.
On the one hand, it does everything Ella wants it to, but when it comes to Curtis, when he’s alone, Chauncy adopts a different tone of voice, won’t listen to any of his commands, and goes rogue. CJ (Allen Payne) and Calvin don’t believe it so Curtis is alone.
Speaking of CJ, he has to intervene in Malik’s love life. Lisa gets discovered by a photographer who wants to do a photoshoot, but Malik doesn’t think it’s legit. Lisa is offended because she feels like he doesn’t trust her. The compromise is that the shoot will happen at the Paynes’ home.
CJ meets the photographer first, gets his name, and tells him he will Google him. Lisa starts the shoot, and it goes well until Malik walks in and makes it awkward. It turns out that the photographer is famous, but the damage is done and Lisa is pissed that her moment is ruined. CJ imparts an important lesson on Malik. He tells him to put his pride aside and apologize to her for undermining her judgment.
“How is she supposed to trust marrying you some day when you don’t trust her?” he explained.
You know there’s a catch, though, right?
Malik apologizes, but it turns out that Lisa doesn’t even want to pursue modeling seriously. She was just curious about what a photoshoot would be like. Later, Malik sees a news report that the photographer got arrested for putting cameras in his dressing rooms. However, he kept that to himself because saying, “I told you so,” wasn’t worth more drama.
Finally, the episode winds down with Curtis replacing the Chauncy with an Olivia, and the tables turn because Olivia ain’t having it with Ella “bossing her around.”
