Taylor Swift's Video Congratulating Russell Westbrook's MVP Win Has People Shaking Their Heads

"She never watched a basketball game in her life."

People can be harsh at times. Taylor Swift knows. The pop princess immediately caught the wrath of Twitter trolls after tweeting out a video of herself congratulating Russell Westbrook for winning the MVP last night at the NBA Awards.

"Remember I was the one who taught you to play basketball," Swift jokes to start the clip. "I was the one who taught you to dribble, to shoot hoops. I remember the first time you beat me at basketball. I was very upset, and you said…'You just have to shake it off.' And I got an idea. So essentially, we have each other to thank for these careers. That’s why I’m a part of your congratulations video, because we just, we go back 20 years. Actually, we’ve never met. That’s a fake story, but I wish it were the truth. You are amazing. You’re the MVP. I’m so happy for you."

The well-intended message didn’t prevent her from being dragged by hoop fans with zero chill, as they shook their heads in disgust over the clip. Don’t they know that Brodie is a Taylor Swift fan?

  • Here’s the message that Taylor Swift sent, congratulating Russ on his first MVP

It was all in good fun — but try telling that to Twitter trolls.

  • People picked their best Russ scowls to show how he might have felt to get the MVP congrats from her

    DAMN!

  • Thunder fans claimed that the cringe-worthy factor of Taylor’s clip was all too real

    Is it that bad?

  • Others asked her to delete and declared that she'd never watched a basketball game in her life

    Zero chill whatsoever.

  • But don’t they know that Russ is a certified Taylor Swift fan with receipts as proof?

They probably know and don’t care.

  • All this commotion and Brodie is probably like…

    Bruh!
