Hip Hop Awards 2022: DNA Vows A ‘Good Get Back’ In Rap Battle Against K-Shine

The freestyle master admits that his longtime rival beat him in a previous battle, and he’s ready to get even.

Veteran battle rapper DNA has a stellar record of defeating competitors. At the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards Tuesday night (Oct. 4) he will face off against K-Shine, one of the few opponents who has bested him. DNA vows sweet revenge.

In a video clip taped before their lyrical battle, the rap artist admitted that K-Shine out performed him in a previous rap battle. Since then, he’s been itching to “get back” at his adversary.

“This is a good get back because it’s on national television,” DNA snarled, adding that his keys to success against K-Shine this time are “being overly prepared, focused and talented.”

The Queens, N.Y., rapper said he first entered the battle arena at 11. Over the years, DNA honed his skills. He always enters the ring with sharp lyrical weapons to slay his opponents.

“Battle rap is about what have you done for me lately,” DNA says. “Even though I won in 2019, this will be a whole new competition.”

Indeed, he’s no stranger to the BET Rap Battle stage. In 2019, DNA was crowned champion in BET’s first live battle rap competition, topping heavyweights Geechi Gotti, T-Top and Shotgun Suge.
