Rutgers Coach Fired for Abusing Players
Rutgers University fired men's basketball coach Mike Rice Wednesday after videos surfaced of him using homophobic slurs and unnecessary physical force against players during the team's practices.
In the video Rice is shown throwing basketballs at players heads and calling a player a "f------- fairy" and a "f------ fa--got." Outrage followed after ESPN released the video of the unacceptable behavior.
Rice will no longer be able to hit and berate players any further, as he is now jobless. The University made the announcement via Twitter Wednesday.
"I can't say anything right now except I'm sorry, and there will never be a time where I'm going to use any of that as an excuse or will there be any excuse," Rice said in a statement.
