Keke Palmer to Star in Nick Cannon Produced Movie "Rags"
Keke Palmer has been tapped to star in the made-for-TV movie Rags. The film, which will air on Nickelodeon, is described as a “music-infused, modern twist on the classic Cinderella story set against the backdrop of New York City.” Film and music video director Bille Woodruff will helm the project while Rodney Jerkins will produce original music for the film.
Nick Cannon, who works as an executive at Nickelodeon, also serves as executive producer and reportedly conceived the idea for the film. "I am thrilled to work with my Nick family and bring across my vision of a classic fairy tale with a hip hop flare," Cannon said of the movie. "I am having such a great time working with so much amazing young talent on this project."
For the popular young actress, the starring role in Rags is just one of many roles we’ll be seeing her portray in the near future. Palmer recently finished filming Joyful Noise alongside Queen Latifah and Dolly Parton. She’ll also contribute a song to the movie’s soundtrack. Her talents will also be featured on Ice Age: Continental Drift. Palmer will voice the role of Peaches in the fourth installment of the blockbuster franchise, set for release in summer 2012.
