On Monday, President Obama sketched out the United States' International Strategy for Cyberspace for the Web. The plan focuses on increased Internet security, a free-trade environment, safeguards for privacy, enhanced police cooperation to fight cybercrime and protection of free expression online by all users. He also made it clear that the American armed forces would respond militarily if national security came under cyberattack.

African-Americans professionals already provide vital expertise in cyber security, the protection of online commerce and government operations for key public, private and non-profit organizations.

The positions that these individuals have attained provide role models that no athlete or entertainer can match. Among the titles that the African-American cyber security experts hold are: Director of Intelligence, U.S. Cyber Command; the Security and Privacy Product Manager at Apple Inc.; the Department of Defense Senior Advisor for Cyber Policy, Office of the Secretary of Defense; the Deputy Associate Chief Information Officer for Cyber Security at the Internal Revenue Service and the Vice President and Chief Security Officer for General Electric.
