Remy Ma Came To Nicki Minaj’s Defense On This Controversial Topic, And Fans Have A Lot To Say
Longtime Terror Squad partners Fat Joe and Remy Ma recently caught up with each other via Instagram Live in front of thousands of self-quarantining fans.
The two reminisced about their respective ascent through the ranks of rap as part of the Terror Squad hip-hop collective. While many are familiar with Remy’s public feuds with Nicki Minaj and Foxy Brown, Remy revealed other unlikely foes to Joey. She shared that someone credible in the industry showed her messages from an unnamed female artist “talking so crazy” about her.
“I can't really say who it is [or] what they said because then people will know who said it. But, I just couldn’t believe it. Anytime anyone came to me and was telling me like, ‘Yo, this was said,’ I was like ‘No, I don’t believe it’ because we had a conversation. I told her ‘Yo, you supposed to say you the best. Same when I was supposed to say I’m the best.”
Initially, she believed it was industry people who were trying to play two women against each other until she saw the actual messages for herself. She remembered that it was right around the time she had just got out of jail in 2014.
“When I saw it with my own eyes, I’m like ‘How you hatin’ on me? How could you try to wish bad on me? I come from the bottom. We not even in the same lane,’” Remy recalled around the 26-minute mark.
Further into their conversation, Fat Joe and Remy reflected over their triumphant return with “All The Way Up” following Remy’s release from jail only to lose out at the 2016 Grammy Awards.
“Regardless, I feel like whatever happened with ‘Shether,’ that opened the doors for all the females that you see right now. You would have never heard them. Ever,” Remy said.
She added, “But, in Nicki’s defense, now I see why she wasn’t dealing with some of these b***hes because...Yo! I be looking sometimes at some of these women and be like, ‘Yo, there’s enough room for everybody. Why you doing shorty like that?’ I just don’t understand their thought process or their logic. So when you do get in that spot, most of the time if you’re a female, anybody’s that around you gonna be like ‘Nah lock it down. Keep it for yourself. Don’t share your spotlight with nobody else. Don’t let nobody in.’”
In light of Remy’s contentious history with Nicki, the Twitterverse weighed in with their thoughts on her admission. See what people are saying about Fat Joe and Remy’s full conversation, and the video itself, below:
