Rep. Maxine Waters Tests Positive For COVID After Attending Summit Of The Americas
Rep. Maxine Waters has tested positive for COVID-19 after attending last week’s Summit of the Americas.
According to CBS News, the 83-year-old, who is vaccinated and boosted, said in a statement, "Yesterday, after learning of a potential exposure at the Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles, I was notified that I tested positive for COVID. I am currently isolating and have no symptoms."
Waters also tested positive in April.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also tested positive and tweeted he is feeling “okay.” Trudeau is also vaccinated and boosted. On Monday (June 13), Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra, who also attended the Summit of the Americas, revealed he tested positive for COVID for a second time in 30 days.
CBS News reports it's unclear if proof of vaccination was required to attend the Summit of the Americas but most attendees were not wearing masks.
