White Woman Caught On Video Calling 911 On A Black Woman For Smoking Cigarettes In The Parking Lot
As the current wave of white women calling police on law-abiding Black people roars on with no end in sight, a new 911 vigilante has emerged: #NewportNancy.
Much like her predecessor #PermitPatty, Nancy (not her real name but she has yet to be identified) was caught on camera threatening to call the police on someone Black. Only this time, it was not a little girl selling water, it was a Black woman smoking cigarettes in the parking lot.
On Sunday, Stacy Etheridge, a mother from Georgia, posted a Facebook video which was captured by her daughter. In the video, her daughter, who was smoking a cigarette, was confronted by a white woman in the parking garage of herapartment building in Atlanta.
"Caucasian woman tells my daughter to put her cigarette out and decides to call the police on my daughter for smoking outside in a parking deck,” wrote Etheridge. “Police showed up and said it was no harm to others… this calling the cops on Blacks is getting way out of hand. Now you can’t smoke outside. #NewportNancy."
In the clip, Etheridge’s daughter asked the white woman, “You said I can’t smoke here? You’re gonna have me kicked out? That’s what you said?”
#NewportNancy then replied, “They’ll have you evicted for smoking on the property.”
“Are you racist? Because I think you are. You just came out here harassing me for no reason,” Etheridge’s daughter asked.
The white woman then closed her car door and appeared to make a phone call. Although it’s unclear if she actually called police, Etheridge claimed police arrived and said there was no issue.
While police report was filed on the incident, Black Twitter is working hard to identify #NewportNancy.
