Subway's Jared Fogle Got the Maximum Prison Time for Child Porn
The verdict is out. After being charged with possession of child porn and child prostitution earlier this year, Jared Fogle has been sentenced to 15.6 years in prison. Fogle's attorneys submitted legal docs making their case for the minimum sentence of five years in prison, but were given something much more substantial.
TMZ reports that the former Subway spokesperson received more than the proposed plea deal after his lawyers tried to blame his "mild pedophilia" on "weight loss." While the deal he struck with prosecutors was for a much less brutal sentencing — 5 to 12 and a half years — Judge Tanya Pratt was actually not bound by the deal. It was all made official this morning, though, when Fogle formally pleaded guilty.
Seeing as he will be in federal prison, the standard time served will be just more than 13 years, which means he would be a free man in 2029 at 51 years old. However, when he gets out, things won't go back to normal for the formerly respectable household name as he will be on lifetime supervised release.
In an attempt to prove that Fogle's actions were based on his weight loss, his attorney had an expert testify that he had a compulsive eating disorder to prove that when he lost weight, he replaced it with hypersexuality.
According to court documents, there were 12 victims of child porn and two victims of child prostitution.
