Destiny's Child Reunion Rumor Growing
Over the course of their ten years together as a group, Destiny's Child sold more than 60 million records worldwide. However, they were plagued by inner turmoil that caused different changes in the line-up of the group and ultimately the group split, with it's former lead singer, Beyoncé, having the most notable post-Destiny's Child career. Now it seems Bey may be calling on her former group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams to try another run at their past success, or at least that's the latest from the rumor mill.
According to the New York Post's Page Six, execs behind Bey's fourth studio album, 4, are bracing for the project to bomb and have included a Destiny's Child reunion as a part of the recovery strategy.
"They're very nervous about Beyoncé's new record," an industry insider told The Post. "It doesn't have the hit songs that her fans are used to. They asked her to make changes, but she said no."
Another source shared the same sentiments saying that Bey's career just isn't what it's used to. "Beyoncé's career has stalled a bit," the source said. "Columbia seems to think they can get some mileage out of a comeback record with all the girls."
Rumor has it that the girls would begin recording in October for an album that may be called Family Reunion. However, others speculate that none of this is true, especially in light of Kelly Rowland's success as a solo artist. "She has her own solo career now," said a Rowland source. "Why would she want to be singing backup for Beyoncé?"
Reps at the label claim that all of these rumors are completely false including the one about dissatisfaction with the album. "All I know is that the record came in. Nothing was ever discussed to change it." Beyoncé's rep at Columbia said, "All of this is completely untrue. All of it."
As of now, 4, which leaked three weeks early, is still slated for a June 28 release.
