Bobby Brown Drops Out of New Edition Reunion Tour
Bobby Brown won't be continuing with New Edition on tour this time around. Brown announced Friday (July 11) that he is dropping out of the group's summer run in order to recover from an undisclosed medical issue.
The 45-year-old R&B singer underwent "an intrusive medical procedure," according to TMZ, and must now remain under the care of a doctor.
"I apologize to the fans of New Edition," Brown said in a statement. "I really wanted to be with my brothers, but presently I am unable to give fans what they typically expect from New Edition."
Brown, Ronny DeVoe, Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Johnny Gill and Michael Bivins started the 28-date tour late last month in Connecticut. Signs of the reported medical issue may have been apparent at a Mississippi show last week. Brown was visibly winded during a performance of "If It Isn't Love" and abruptly left the stage before the song ended. He has not clarified if the walkout was directly related to the aforementioned procedure.
New Edition's tour wraps up August 3 in Los Angeles.
