Prince Pulls Plug on All Music Streaming Services But One
All for Tidal and Tidal for All!
At least that’s the tune Prince is singing after stripping Spotify, Rdio, and the new Apple Music of his complete catalog in a stealth move this morning. Shortly after releasing a new single with no promotion, a la Beyonce, Prince has clearly drew his line in the sand with online music streaming services joining team Tidal.
The music streaming service, led by industry pioneers like Jay Z, Kanye West and Madonna, has been fighting hard for position among the music streaming servicers, offering artists more money for their catalogs.
There’s no word yet on the motivation behind Prince’s decision, but Spotify did offer this to fans looking for the icon’s music. "Prince’s publisher has asked all streaming services to remove his catalog. We have cooperated with the request, and hope to bring his music back as soon as possible.”
