Connor Cruise Wants Us to Quit Talking About Caitlyn Jenner
What is it with the children of mega-celebrities these days? Chet Haze, aka White Chocolate, aka son of Tom Hanks, shared his views on using the n-word earlier this week — to the offense of many — and now Tom Cruise's son Connor Cruise is snatching the social media limelight with his thoughts on everybody's favorite topic: Caitlyn Jenner.
Young mister Cruise clearly doesn't approve of all the attention the nation is showering on Jenner, especially when there are important things — like Chilean sea bass — to focus on. “Really?? Winning the [Arthur Ashe] award for courage?? Ashton [Kutcher] is gonna come out and yell PUNK’D,” Connor posted on June 3, referring to the honor Jenner will receive at the ESPYs in a few short weeks. “Don’t get me wrong. Do what you feel like doing and don’t let anyone stop you. But everyone is taking this way too seriously…There are so many more important things that should be talked about…And SO MANY MORE IMPORTANT PEOPLE that actually deserve an award.”
Regretfully, he continues: “I’m totally supportive of people staying true to themselves and finding true happiness in whatever way they can,” he wrote. “There are just more things that we as a nation and as a planet should be talking about and working on.”
One of those things, according to Connor, is that our national obsession with Chilean sea bass means that there will be way, way fewer fish in the sea in 30 years.
Jenner, meanwhile, is probably saying, "Connor who?" as she continues to change lives and be celebrated for her bravery. In fact, New York Daily News reports that Caitlyn, Inc. could be worth nearly half a billion dollars over the next decade.
“Caitlyn is going to be a pioneer,” says brand expert Rob Shuter, pointing to the 17 million people who tuned in to the Diane Sawyer interview and her 1.5 million Twitter followers.
“A book deal could hit seven figures. Speeches could garner six figures each.”
Sorry, Connor, looks like you're in the minority on this one. Laverne Cox is just one of the many celebs who have spoken out in support of Jenner. Watch what she had to say just one day before Caitlyn's big reveal below:
