Drake Receives Government Grant for OVO Festival

$300,000 Canadian dollars goes to funding for rapper's annual concert event.

Drake has been awarded a grant of $300,000 Canadian dollars, or about US $268,000, from Ontario's Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport for his annual OVO Fest this year, Rolling Stone reports. The festival will take place Aug. 3 and 4 with OutKast and, of course, Drake performing.
The Celebrate Ontario grant, funded by taxpayer money, provides funds for "new and existing Ontario festivals and events to enhance their programs." Drake's OVO Fest is one of dozens of programs — including several music festivals — to receive grants.
OVO Fest will accommodate about 16,000 music fans per day, with tickets ranging from $66.50 for single-day passes to between $124.80 and $347.50 for two-day passes. Presumably, more acts will be announced in the coming months.
