FBI Releases Its Whitney Houston Files

Records reveal that the feds looked into exortion allegations and suspicious fan mail.

On Monday, March 4, the FBI released its records on three investigations it conducted on behalf of late pop icon Whitney Houston.

The files reveal that the Feds looked into an alleged extortion attempt in 1992, but agents and prosecutors determined no crime occurred. Houston was interviewed at the New Jersey offices of her management company in the investigation, but the records covering the interview are heavily redacted.

There were also investigations in 1998 and 1999 stemming from fan mail forwarded to the agency, but once again no evidence of criminal threats to the singer was found.

The 128-page file covers the height of Houston's popularity and the drama that came with it, but doesn't reveal any new details about the troubled singer's personal life.
