LaVar Ball To Homeschool LaMelo With Hopes Of Making Him The ‘Best Basketball Player Ever’

The basketball dad everyone loves to hate strikes again!

Known for making bold, outspoken claims, LaVar Ball is back with more controversial news. He recently announced plans to withdraw his 17-year-old son, LaMelo, from Chino Hills High School and homeschool him for the next two years.

According to BleacherReport.com, Ball’s decision to pull his on from school stems from issues with the school’s coaching staff. “It’s a new coach and I don’t like him one bit. He’s on track for UCLA, but he doesn’t have to be dealing with those knuckleheads. I’m not letting them mess with his head anymore. You can put that on the principal and the coach over there,” he said in a statement to ESPN.com’s Ramona Shelburne.

A proud basketball dad, Ball was accused of undermining former Chino Hills coach Stephan Gilling, who was let go this past April, by “entering the locker room and offering instructions from the stands that contradicted what he had coached the team to do.”

LaVar went on to claim that through his coaching and training, LaMelo will become “the best basketball player ever.”

Despite his father’s apprehension, LaMelo has made great strides on the court with Chino Hills. According to BleacherReport, he “averaged 27.5 points and shot 43.2 percent from the field in 30 games for Chino Hill as a sophomore in 2016-17. He’s the No.30 player overall and No.5 point guard in the 2019 recruiting class.”
