Troy Ave Charged With Attempted Murder After T.I. Concert Shooting
The fallout from last night's shooting at a T.I. concert in New York City continues that left one dead and two others wounded.
Troy Ave was arrested on Thursday in connection with the incident. According to the NY Daily News, the rapper accidentally shot himself in the leg during the chaos and was charged with reckless endangerment and illegal weapons possession earlier today. Earlier, police said they were awaiting the result of ballistics tests before charging Troy Ave with murder, but it seems the test must have come back postive because Troy was charged just moments ago:
The Brooklyn rapper has had a long-running beef with fellow emcee Maino, who had just left the stage when the shooting began. Ronald “Edgar” McPhatter, also known as B&B Banga and a close friend of Troy Ave, was shot in the stomach and pronounced dead at Beth Israel Hospital late last night.
Police released a video of the chaos, which will likely be used as a key piece of evidence if Troy is charged. “There is clear video, very graphic video. He walks right out, women all around, and starts shooting his gun. It’s an ongoing rap group rivalry, him and Maino,” cops say.
Both T.I. and Maino have also both released statements on social media about the incident:
Clearly, police are determined to get to the bottom of what happened and hold someone accountable.
