Witch Doctor Obama T-Shirt Popular at Tea Party Convention
A T-shirt of President Obama as a witch doctor caricature plotting to take over medicine was all the rage at the South Carolina Tea Party Convention this past weekend.
The shirt shows Obama with a bone through his nose and the message “Your New Doctor Obamacare: Coming soon to a clinic near you!” The Tea Party have been vocal opponents of Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act, which was passed as a law in 2010.
Bob Cramer, creator of the Obama “medicine man” t-shirt doesn’t believe the shirt is racist.
“Some people tell me it’s racist, but it’s not racist — it’s political,” Cramer told the Palmetto Public Record. “Matter of fact, that’s how I got invited here.”
Cramer also sells Obama witch doctor window decals, which have been in high demand among Tea Partiers.
“I’ve had people chase me down at gas stations asking me where they can buy one and give me thumbs up on the highway,” he said. “Nobody’s tried to mess with my truck, even when I’ve been in black neighborhoods and other places.”
The witch doctor image of Obama has been circulating on the Internet since 2009.
