Derek Luke Joins Cast of "HawthoRNe"
Black Voices has learned that Derek Luke has signed on to star in season three of Jada Pinkett Smith's medical drama HawthoRNe.
Luke will play Dr. Miles Bourdet, a sexy surgeon who arrives at James River Hospital to become the protégé of Dr. Tom Wakefield. Dr. Bourdet, who is going through a divorce, will attract the attention of Christina Hawthorne’s daughter who is prone to getting in trouble.
Luke, who was last seen starring in NBC's short-lived medical drama Trauma, has signed on for a multi-episode arc that begins with the season premiere, which is set to return to TNT on June 14.
In addition to the title role in the Denzel Washington-directed Antwone Fisher, the New Jersey native's feature film credits include Biker Boyz, Friday Night Lights, Miracle at St. Anna and 2009's box office hit Notorious. Duke will also star as Gabe Jones in the upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger, scheduled for release in July.
