A Sista With A Voice: Five Times “Fatima” Sang Her Heart Out
Crystal Renee Hayslett is a multi-talented actress, stylist, and singer. The Martin, Tennessee, started living out her dreams as a wardrobe stylist in the Tyler Perry universe. After becoming a production assistant, she began costume designing for TV and film projects such as If “Loving You is Wrong”, “The Haves and the Have Nots,” “Boo! A Madea Halloween,” “A Madea Family Funeral,” and more. Eventually, she landed the role of Fatima on “Sistas” and “Zatima,” and quickly became a fan favorite. Then there was that episode of “Zatima” when she sang Alicia Keys’ “Fallin” to Zac. That was the moment when everyone discovered that she could sing. Here are five more times when Crystal Renee Hayslett’s mic was on.
“Nothing Else”
Last spring, Hayslett starred alongside Chloe Bailey in “Praise This,” a gospel film about a young woman with dreams of superstardom who joins an underdog Atlanta-area choir. In “Praise This,” Hayslett gives her all for Jesus.
Singing The National Anthem
Few things are more standard and classic than for a singing belting “The Star Spangled Banner.” In this throwback from 14 years ago, you’ll see Hayslett singing the national anthem at the 6th annual celebrity wheelchair basketball jam.
Singing “Amazing Grace”
Here she is, putting her spin on “Amazing Grace” at the Grind Pretty Fest in Atlanta. The Grind Pretty Fest is a day of music, motivation, and inspiration.
With The Band
This is another throwback. At one point, she sang with a band called Jam-Era. This joint, “I F--kin Luv You,” has all the R&B feels.
The EP
She dropped an EP titled “Hello” over 10 years ago. The availability of music back then was much different, so it seems as though any music from the EP is a rare find. This song is a bop called “He Likes Me.” Hopefully, she will release more original music soon.
