R. Kelly Exploded The 'King Of R&B Debate' With This Picture, And The Internet Is At War
The ungovernable “King of R&B” battle royal that tore through the internet last weekend, launched by R&B novice Jacquees’ bold claim for the crown, reared heads from every woodwork of the genre. From Tank and Tyrese to J. Holiday and Bobby Valentino, clashes for the man of R&B royalty most deserving of the throne ran far and long over the following days. Fans clapped back at each other for their R&B king contenders over disputes about record sales, top-charting R&bangers, accolades, and overall, the universal Black music imprint.
It wasn’t long before disgraced Chicago R&B icon R. Kelly, whose widespread musical legacy is besmirched with sex crimes, kicked open the door to the debate with fewer words, but one implicit photo which erupted a whole new uproar on who’s allowed near the R&B throne.
Allusively bidding himself as R&B’s supreme ruler, Kelly posted a throwback photo of himself onstage sitting atop none other than the king’s chair
He plucked a crown emoji into the caption followed by another tacitly expressed hashtag: “#bornforthis.”
And leave it to the internet to knock his crown off just as quickly as he propped it up there…
