Drake to Host 2014 ESPY Awards
Drake just took his love of sports to the next level.
The 27-year-old rap star will be the official host of the 2014 ESPY awards, he announced on Twitter earlier today. "Honored to be this year's @ESPYS host @espn 7.16.2014," he tweeted with a picture of his Nothing Was the Same cover art juxtaposed against an image of an ESPY award.
Drizzy, who doubles as a global ambassador for the Toronto Raptors, has been making lots of sports news lately. He recently dropped the track "Draft Day" with a shout out to football buddy Johnny Manziel, and popped up at the NCAA championship game Monday night (April 7) to support the Kentucky Wildcats in their match up against the University of Connecticut.
UConn ended up beating the Wildcats 60-54, but the Toronto rapper made his way to the locker room to congratulate the winning squad and became the talk of Twitter, immediately after the game (He was also on hand to celebrate with the Miami Heat's NBA championship victory last year.).
According to TMZ, hosting Saturday Night Live in January helped Drake land the ESPYS job. He has reportedly already started rehearsals for the July show.
The ESPY awards will take place at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
