Chicago Gun Violence: 1 Dead, 15 Wounded This Weekend
On the last weekend of September, a 19-year-old man was killed and 15 people were wounded in violence across the city of Chicago.
Marcus Rush was shot while standing outside in the Englewood neighborhood around 7:15 p.m. Saturday. He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, according to NBC Chicago.
Ten people were wounded over Friday night. One of those shootings happened along a Chicago Public Schools Safe Passage Route, a suggested walking area where students are supposed to be able to avoid crime.
A 16-year-old, 18-year-old, 21-year-old and 22-year-old man were wounded in the incident but are in stable condition, according to the Chicago Tribune.
As of today, there have been 28 deaths due to gun violence in Chicago in the month of September, according to the Red Eye homicide tracker.
