First Lady Michelle Obama and her family began their second day in Botswana on a low-key note. First up Saturday, was a visit with the nation’s newest and newly minted U.S. ambassador, Michelle Gavin.

Next, the first family got some take-out from a restaurant in the village of Mochudi, called Borakanelo, which is reportedly a local favorite.  The first lady bought six orders of chicken and chips, or fries as we say here in the U.S., but nary a vegetable.

The day got quite a bit more exciting when the family went in search of lions, giraffes, and other animals on the Madikwe Game Reserve in South Africa, the Associated Press reports. Earlier in the day, they’d witnessed an unexpected elephant sighting.

“Let’s go see some stuff,” Obama said, as she and family members got into an open-air Toyota Land Cruiser. “Let’s go.”

On Sunday, the first family bid Africa sala sentle, or farewell, and returned to Washington.
