Andrew Wiggins to Win NBA Rookie of The Year
The No. 1 draft pick has finished first amongst his peers.
According to ESPN, Andrew Wiggins will win NBA Rookie of the Year this season after averaging 16.9 points and 4.6 rebounds in 39 minutes per game, playing all 82 games of his first season. The 20-year-old, 6-8 small forward from Canada reportedly beat out the likes of the Chicago Bulls' Nikola Mirotic, Orlando Magic's Elfrid Payton and Philadelphia 76ers' Nerlens Noel.
"I don't want to hear anybody saying there is anyone close to him," fellow Timberwolves rookie Zach LaVine told ESPN. "He had the best rookie year by far."
Even people from other teams agree that the Rookie of the Year race wasn't even close.
"I don't even know who else would be in the conversation (for the award)," Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr told ESPN back in February. "He's going to be an All-Star. He's a terrific player, a good talent and it looks like he's figuring out the NBA game. He's really going to be a good player."
The Cleveland Cavaliers originally selected Wiggins with the No. 1 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, before trading him as part of the blockbuster deal to land Kevin Love from the Timberwolves.
