LeBron James Scheming to Play With His Friends
LeBron James really has zero chill.
After unfollowing the Cleveland Cavaliers' official Twitter account earlier this week, the NBA superstar is openly talking about being able to join forces and play with his band of brothers — Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul — before they finish their careers.
"I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together," James told Bleacher Report, as part of a feature piece called Brotherhood, which documents the friendship between King James and Melo, in particular. "At least one, maybe one or two seasons — me, Melo, D-Wade, CP — we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that. It would be pretty cool. I've definitely had thoughts about it."
Although Bron could have left it at that, he only delved deeper about building the super team with his friends when ESPN asked him about it following the Cavs' win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night.
"I mean, we've had plenty of conversations," James told ESPN. "We've been together for almost 15 years, so we've had plenty of conversations."
With all four All-Stars in their 30s, though, could this ever happen or is it just LeBron's hoop dreams.
"I don't know how realistic it could be," James continued. "It would definitely be cool if it happened, but we don't know how realistic it could be to have us four. But, I mean, if you got an opportunity to work with three of your best friends [you take it], no matter what. It's not even about sports. It's about being around guys that you don't even have to say nothing, you automatically know. We just have that type of history.
"So can it happen?" he said. "I don't know if it can even happen, but it would be cool."
Yeah... we're sure Cavs fans are thrilled to hear this. LeBron's willingness to join forces with other stars is unbelievable, especially considering it's something that Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant would have never done throughout their respective careers.
To each his own, though, right?
If the four friends never play together on an NBA squad, at least they could always say they won a gold medal together on the 2008 Olympic team, not to mention, countless All-Star Games with and against each other. That and Bron and D. Wade also did win two titles together with the Miami Heat from 2012-13.
