Louis Vuitton and Sofia Coppola Partner on Resort Collection
One of her first appearances on the screen was in the Francis Ford Coppola (her father) masterpiece “The Godfather.” She has since become the muse of such greats as Marc Jacobs (Louis Vuitton creative director) who named one of his beloved handbag’s after her. Next up, a fun collaboration between Coppola and Louis Vuitton.
InStyle.com says the Louis Vuitton 2012 Resort line, of which Coppola consulted on all aspects, has loose button-up blouses, light raincoats, and jumpsuits in a palette of red, white, and blue. The accessories include perforated clutches, lace-up platform wedges, chains with large LV charms, patterned hats, and printed motor scooter helmets. It’s a complete wardrobe inspired by Coppola’s style.
Coppola has made a name for herself in the film world (“Somewhere,” “The Virgin Suicides” and “Marie Antoinette”), and she’s won an Oscar (“Lost in Translation”). So is designer next? “No, no,” Coppola told Fashionologie.com.
“I really respect and love working with Julie [de Libran, Vuitton's studio design director] and the whole team because they are so knowledgeable,” she said. “I don’t have the patience and the years you would need to really study and learn about all of this.” Guess she’ll be sticking to making movies. Fashion or film, it’s a win win.
