Snoop Dogg's rebirth has a tentative due date. The rap icon's first album as Snoop Lion, his reggae alter ego, is slated to arrive in spring of 2013 on RCA Records.
According to HipHopDX.com, Snoop inked a new deal for the project, titled Reincarnated, which doubles as the soundtrack to a documentary film of the same name. The doc was accepted into the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival and follows Snoop's journey to Jamaica where he is profoundly impacted by the country's Rastafarian culture.
The first single from Reincarnated, "La La La," was released earlier this year. Snoop recently debuted a new track, "Here Comes the King," that will also appear on the project. Both songs were produced by Major Lazer, who serves as executive producer of the album.
"Major Lazer and I had a special opportunity to focus on recording Reincarnated from top-to-bottom with no interruptions in Jamaica," Snoop said in a statement. "From my time spent with the people and in the streets, these songs are based on peace, love and the struggle."
