Spike Lee And Netflix Secure New Creative Partnership
Oscar-winning filmmaker Spike Lee has inked a new creative partnership with Netflix. The multi-year deal comes with Lee directing and producing narrative features for the streaming platform.
According to Deadline, the new partnership will begin in Jan. 2022. Netflix is also committed to investing in and providing financial support for Lee’s ever-evolving mission to increase representation throughout the entertainment industry and develop new talent.
“There Is No Better Way For Me And My Company 40 Acres And A Mule Filmworks To Begin The New Year Than Renew Our Partnership With Ted, Scott And Tendo-Da Fearless Leaders Of NETFLIX,” Da 5 Bloods director said in an official statement.
Adding: “Besides My Joints, We Together Will Focus On The New Diverse Storytellers. YOUTH MUST BE SERVED. And Dat’s Da Truth, Ruth. YA-DIG? SHO-NUFF.”
Lee and Netflix have collaborated on past projects including the Oscar-nominated drama Da 5 Bloods, the series She’s Gotta Have It, the Stefon Bristol-helmed sci-fi film See You Yesterday, and the film version of Roger Guenveur Smith’s one-man show Rodney King.v
