B.B. King's Spotify Streams Skyrocket
Following B.B. King's passing earlier this week, the blues legend's moniker as "The King of Blues" is held high as his Spotify streams have increased a staggering 9,800 percent.
While he was alive, the blues great recorded more than 30 albums and performed at nearly 300 shows a year, making him one of the hardest working figures in entertainment. Now, according to Billboard, King's global streams made the huge jump in just 24 hours. Fans worldwide revisited the singer's catalog on the music streaming service, making this one of the biggest streaming leaps ever.
Of his entire discography, 25 of King's albums charted on the Billboard Blues Album chart, with nine reaching the No. 1 spot. Of those that rose to the top, Riding With the King, his joint project with Eric Clapton, lasted 48 weeks in the top position.
Long live the King, indeed.
