SMH: See What Happened When Kendrick Lamar Popped Up As An Answer On 'Jeopardy!'
As if Kendrick Lamar sweeping the 60th annual Grammy Awards and earning his third No. 1 album in 2017 wasn’t enough to catapult him into music trivia common knowledge, the titles of his top-charting hits apparently isn’t sufficient for Jeopardy! contestants either.
On Thursday evening’s episode of the historic trivia challenge show, K-Dot’s distinct album title and songs appeared in the “Recent R&B and Hip-Hop Hits” category:
“Hitmaking was in his ‘DNA.’ He had ‘LOYALTY.’ He was ‘HUMBLE.’ & in ‘LOVE.’—‘DAMN.’”
The three contestants, Rob, Catherine, and Alan, flopped their answers (or lack thereof) even with such obvious clues. The trio pales horribly in comparison to past contestants who have had their hip-hop capacity put to the test with Nipsey Hussle, Twista, Notorious B.I.G., DMX and Snoop Dogg as answers. It’s understandable that a few answers may be tricky for those far removed from the culture, especially since the rap game is inundated with such versatile talent, names and acts. But it wouldn’t have taken a hip-hop head, let alone a simple radio play, to figure out the answer to that one.
And there goes $2,000 down the drain.
See the collective L these three contestants took on the latest episode of Jeopardy! below.
