Lil Yachty Has a Message for His 'Old and Washed Up' Haters
Throughout his budding career, Lil Yachty has consistently ruffled feathers by being outspoken regarding his opinions on hip-hop culture at large, namely that its history doesn’t affect his own music.
The 19-year-old rapper has become a bit of a spokesperson representing the younger generation of hip-hop, with his comments further exemplifying the gap between older and younger fans of hip-hop.
Most recently, at the BET Hip Hop Awards, Lil Yachty shared in an interview that he feels his haters are “old and washed up.”
“N****s don’t know how to accept change,” the Atlanta rapper says. “They old and washed up. I said it.”
While his comments remain consistent from statements he’s shared in the past, this commentary does point out the fact that most of the people giving him a hard time have been fans of rap music for longer than the rapper himself has been alive.
When asked about what he feels the disconnect is between fans of '90s rap music and today, the rapper said that the real problem is as simple as people not being open to change. Lil Yachty then, interestingly enough, went on to say during the interview that he’d like to meet Snoop Dogg because he has yet to.
