Rep. Allen West Urges Women to Help Create Strong Men

Rep. Allen West (R-Florida) sure knows how to spin a tale. In an address delivered last week to the conservative group Women Impacting the Nation, the Tea Party favorite told the group that they are responsible for creating strong men. In a bizarre turn, he pointed to Sparta, an ancient society that Adolf Hitler used as a model for his Nazi movement, as an example of the role women should play, saying that Spartan women made Spartan men strong.
Liberal women make men weak, he added, and they must be stopped.
“We need you to come in and lock shields to strengthen up the men that will go into the fight for you to let these other women know, on the other side, these Planned Parenthood women, the Code Pink women, and all of these women who have been neutering American men and bringing us to the point of this incredible weakness, to let them know that we are not going to have our men become subservient,” he said. “That’s what we need you to do. Because if we don’t, then the debt will continue to grow.”
He also attacked Obama, saying that the “powerful image of an American president” is now “a joke, caricature and a place of weakness.” And while it’s great to have strong women on Capitol Hill, “you need to have strong men," he said. “There’s no doubt about it.”
Could it be West’s own military background that enabled him to be brave enough to spout such misogyny? He’d better hope that his women constituents don’t “lock shields” and vote him out of office.
