Boxing is a sport of not only brawn, but brains. Trash talking is the foreplay that leads to the eventual climax, which is the fight. And fashion, though considered frivolous by some, can be used as a vehicle to advance the stakes. We saw this just last month when Conor McGregor wore his savagery on his sleeve in a pinstripe suit that, upon closer examination, revealed the pinstripes to read "F*** YOU" in tiny lettering over and over again. Perpetual whispers alleging Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s illiteracy aside, the message was loud and clear. 

McGregor's GOAT suit is not a singular example in which fashion and boxing converge and commingle. For this weekend's much-anticipated fight, fashion designer Philipp Plein will outfit Mayweather, thus kicking off a two-year partnership between the two.

"Mayweather will make his entrance into the ring sporting a Philipp Plein custom boxing robe and trunks. In addition, his support team will wear bespoke total looks by the brand," reported WWD, breaking the news of the partnership. The duo will also present a capsule collection that will debut at Plein's Las Vegas store on Friday, which will feature both the designer and athlete's names. 

Meanwhile, on the other side of the ring, it's been reported that Donatella Versace has sent McGregor a custom Versace boxing robe for his fight-night 'fit. We don't know or care much about two grown men fighting each other in a media spectacle, but based on the quality of their fashion alliances, our money is on McGregor!
