Suspicious Device Investigation Halts Traffic on Atlanta Downtown Connector
Drivers in Atlanta experienced extended delays for miles after a suspicious device investigation shut down 14th Street and all lanes on the downtown Connector for two hours on Monday, WSB-TV reports.
A 911 call shortly after 1 p.m. alerted police to a tube-shaped object duct taped to the east side of the 14th Street bridge. WSB-TV reports that a worker who saw the device told officers there was an inscription that read, “Slow motion video. Do not move until spring.”
A bomb squad arrived on the scene immediately and detonated the device at about 3:55 p.m., according to police. According to The Atlanta Journal‑Constitution, authorities have yet to disclose what the device was or contained.
The southbound lanes have since been reopened, but the northbound lanes remained closed as of 4:16 p.m.
