Fresh off the heels of his cautionary message to Meek Mill, Trick Daddy isn't holding back from sharing more of his thoughts on the current state of hip-hop. The rapper-turned-producer recently sat down with Billboard to discuss why he decided to reunite with Trina, his forthcoming joint-album, TNT, and his support for rising artists. 

While the Slip-N-Slide Records signee made sure to big up the likes of Mike Smiff and Kodak Black, the latter he considers to be "like a little brother," he didn't hesitate to throw shade at the surplus of female rappers coming up in the industry. "The era is different now," he responded when asked about rising artists. Comparing the women emcees of today to Trina, Trick implied that female rappers are simply Instagram famous. 

"With Trina, [she's] naturally pretty, slick mouth and fine as f--k," he said. "But now, the girls all think that they’re famous now. Nobody wants to work hard no more. They get a few likes on Instagram and they think they’re superstars. They will never be a Trina." 

The rapper's comments aren't acutely surprising, considering what Trick Daddy has said about women in the past. But, it's worth nothing that he was possibly sending a subliminal message to likes of Nicki Minaj or Cardi B., who have what most would call cult followings on social media.
