Rick Ross' Mastermind Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard 200
The first week tallies are officially in, and hip hop is winning.
Rick Ross' latest masterpiece, Mastermind, opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 bestselling albums chart after hitting shelves and digital retail last Monday (March 3).
Pharrell, who released his sophomore solo effort, G I R L, the following day, takes the No. 2 spot, reports MissInfo.
Mastermind is Ross' sixth studio album and moved 184,726 units despite much delay and controversy surrounding his lyrics. It boasts such features as Jay Z, Scarface, Kanye West and Lil Wayne, and showcases one of his Maybach Music Group artists, Meek Mill.
Pharrell's opus is coming in at 110,090 copies sold, led by his Oscar-nominated song, "Happy," which currently sits atop Billboard's Hot 100, Radio Songs, Digital Songs and Ringtone charts.
Last week, the genre scored another big hit with ScHoolBoy Q's major label debut, Oxymoron, which also opened at No. 1 with 139,000 units moved.
