Wait, Why Is Mary J. Blige Singing at Hillary Clinton?
If Monday’s inaugural presidential debate doesn’t have you scratching your head about the state of American politics right now, perhaps this will.
Mary J. Blige is known for her singing, but for her singing interviews? Ummm. Well, basically what happened was Blige sat down with Democratic Commander-In-Chief candidate Hillary Clinton to ask her about problems facing minorities. Sounds like something positive, right?
It was, at least until the Internet caught wind of her singing to Clinton. “If an officer stops you, always be polite and never ever run away. Promise mama you’ll keep your hands inside,” she sang with intentions of it being moving rather than extremely awkward. “Is it a gun? Is it a knife? Is it a wallet? This is your life. It ain’t no secret. It ain’t no secret, no secret, my friend. You can get killed just for living in your American skin."
Hillary Clinton keeps a pretty straight face through all of it, which is remarkable considering how cringe-worthy it was. The full interview is due to surface Friday (September 30). Check out a preview of it from Apple Music below.
