An October brawl with a fan in Washington, D.C., last month wasn't entirely Chris Brown's fault, according to Method Man. The Wu-Tang Clan member defended Breezy's antics during an interview with XXL, and went on to blame blogs for instigating things.

Mef's defense of Brown came out of his thoughts on negative news stories. Specifically, the one about the aforementioned scuffle that drove the "Fine China" crooner to rehab for anger management.

A male fan allegedly tired to jump in a photo with Brown, and instead of a photo op, a fight ensued. Brown was arrested for felony assault, but if the Virginia native was a "regular dude" things would've went down differently, Mef explained. "I woulda whooped his a-- too," he said. "But based off the fact that it's Chris Brown, they're making a big deal about it. I feel bad for the dude. And the bloggers, all these other sideline people with their opinions, aren't making it any better."

In general, the public needs to be more empathetic of Brown's status, the native New Yorker continued. "My thing is, if you were in that same situation, how would you handle it? Maybe you wouldn't have handled it in the same way Chris did, but you would have been just as angry. Don't f----n' act like he's some kind of animal and s---. 

"You just gotta understand, I've been doing this s--- for a long time in the past few years, I've seen the change in the media, and it's ugly as hell," he added. "I don’t believe in kissing an artist's a--, I believe in going right for the story, but when you’re trying to make a f-----n' story? How tacky is that? How tactless? And that's what it feels like now."

Mef has experience navigating through media fodder both as a group and a solo artist. Although he doesn't "do interviews anymore," the Shaolin affiliate spoke with XXL out of "respect" for the brand and later discussed Wu-Tang's 20th anniversary reunion album, allegedly being stalled by Raekwon. He didn't name Rae for holding up the project, but detailed some of their progress thus far. "You'd have to talk to RZA and them, like I said, I just go in and I spit on the tracks and s---, and I break out. 

"You know, it started off — and I’m about to give you some real s---, it started off shaky, dog. N----s didn’t like the concepts that RZA was comin' with at first, or this whole overall look for the album. He wanted it to be light, we wanted it to be dark, bring it back to that first LP. He was more like, more or less, 'We've been there and done that.' So this is why it's taking so long, because we gotta find a common denominator between light and dark, 'cause I agree with him, you can't have a full album worth of dark s---, you gotta have some light there."
