Drake Honors Mother and Daughter Who Died in Hit-and-Run After His Show, Gifts $25K to Cancer Survivor
Drake honored two fans who died in a hit-and-run accident after his concert.
According to video footage obtained by TMZ, Drake shared an emotional message with the capacity crowd during his Feb. 28 show at KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York. The message paid tribute to Laticha Bracero and her daughter, 21-year-old Alyssa Cordova.
"You never know what somebody else's reality will be when they walk out of this building," Drake said to the crowd.
“Rest in peace to that young mother and her child,” he added.
Drake also asked his crowd to show love to a stranger to “prove that you’re grateful for your life.”
“I want you to turn to somebody that you do not know—not somebody that you came here with,” Drake said to the audience. “I want you to take five seconds out of your day to make somebody else’s day. Just show some love. Because you never know what comes next.”
On the early morning of February 14, Bracero and Cordova were struck at a “high rate of speed” following Drake’s St. Louis show.
According to law enforcement, the alleged suspect, Monte Henderson, ran numerous red lights before the tragic accident occurred. He’s currently facing charges of two counts of involuntary manslaughter and two counts of armed criminal action.
In addition to honoring the lives of Bracero and Cordova, “6 God” noticed a fan in the crowd waving a sign that said, “Beat stage four cancer” which led to a performance of his classic song “God’s Plan.”
Drake wound up giving the fan $25,000, his continued display of generosity is very much reminiscent of the music video for his single “God’s Plan”, where he donates sums of money to students, single mothers, and Black families in the Miami area.
