Chicago Shootings Leave 6 Dead, 27 Injured
Gunshots rang out across Chicago's South, West and Southwest sides this past weekend, leaving six dead, including 28-year-old Jerrell Brooks, and 27 others injured, including a 7-year-old boy, according to the NBC Chicago.
This now brings the city's homicide total to 264, according to Red Eye Chicago a site that tracks victims.
Brooks and another man were shot while inside a vehicle Sunday night as another vehicle pulled up beside them and a shooter opened fire on the victims. A bullet hit Brooks in the head and the man he was with in the arm, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Tyvion Jackson, 7, was struck by a stray bullet while putting away his bike around 9 p.m. Sunday. A group of people were arguing near his home when one pulled out a gun and fired shots, one of them hitting Tyvion. He was released from the hospital this morning, according to reports.
Another shooting outside a bar after a dispute left a 23-year-old man, a 29-year-old, a 26-year-old and a 46-year-old man shot around midnight Monday.
