Squad Car Camera Captures Devastating Moment Diamond Reynolds's Daughter Says, 'Please Don't Scream 'Cause I Don't Want You to Get Shooted!'
New footage from the back of an officer squad car shows a heartbroken Diamond Reynolds and her daughter Dae’Anne trying to console her after the shooting of Philando Castile.
Diamond Reynolds, Castile’s fiancée, was handcuffed and put in the back of the cruiser immediately after the shooting occurred. Dae’Anne was sitting with her mother, who began to scream in anger.
As Reynolds’s emotions become more intense, her daughter attempted to calm her down out of fear that she would also be shot.
“I can keep you safe,” the little girl tells her mother.
Then Reynolds talks about the handcuffs that she repeatedly asked officers to remove so she could call family members and tell them about the situation.
“Damn, is there no one to take these b*****s off?”
Then Dae’Anne quickly tried to get her mother to stop because she was afraid police would shoot her next.
“No, please no! I don't want you to get shooted! Don't take them off until they take them off you,” the four-year-old told her.
Although Dae’Anne tried her best to keep her mother safe, she also grew more upset about the potential of losing Castile, who would have been her stepfather.
“Now that's he's gone, he might be gone forever,” Dae’Anne cried. “If he is gone forever, I'm going to miss him very much,”
She continued to say she prayed for a place with “no more police and no more shootings and no more guns.”
